I seriously thought that we would be done snowboarding in about 10 minutes because all it would take was one good fall for Caleb to be over his snowboarding obsession. Well... he didn't fall once and he wants to go again! Crazy kid!

Neighbs

That's our affectionate and short term for neighbors. Back on September 12, 1999 we met Mark and Angie. Yes, we have a “friendiversary”, we met them on our one year wedding anniversary. We were moving into our first apartment called Casa de Jerardo. They came by and introduced themselves as our neighbors and the rest is history. We were besties doing everything together. Family vacations, spur of the moment Vegas turnarounds, grilling carne asada and much more. Heck, we drilled a hole in the wall between our apartments to share Internet (That was before wireless routers. WOW! We really have known them for a long time! Ha!). As you read in my last post, while in Kauai we got a call that Mark (seen above in a beautiful photo by Scott Montgomery)had been in a bad dirt bike accident. It was horrible to be stuck so far away from the people we love especially when they need you. Our poor kids are probably traumatized by all of the crying and phone conversations in our hotel room as the hours went by that we had to wait for a flight. Thank God we were able to get on the next flight home even though it was almost completely sold out. So anyway, you won't see many more happy go lucky posts around here for at least right now. Mark is barely hanging onto life by a strand. For now I am using my very limited and downright ghetto blogging skills on his blog. Please follow his story and pray with us at prayforthelamberths.com

Sightseeing

Yesterday we did a little sightseeing. It was raining all morning so when the rain stopped and Josh was done working, we went to the lighthouse/lookout point and admired the beautiful cliffs and ocean. We even saw a rainbow, a pod of dolphins, and a whale jumping out of the water. Only in Hawaii. Awesome.

We went to the luau at the Hyatt. The food was AMAZING (no joke!!!). The dancers were awesome and traditional. The kids got their turn on stage. And Josh got humiliated (but he was a good sport). All the makings for a great luau. :)

Once again we are on the beautiful Garden Island. This trip came about spur of the moment by Josh and I inviting ourselves on Josh's dads Kauai vacation. Financial Update: I use free financial software at mint.com. It works great. I get to budget and keep track of how much I spend on things like groceries and gas. This brilliant website has told me that my most frequented merchant this month is Starbucks. Wow. This must come as such a surprise to those of you who know Josh. Any who... If you and yours need to keep better track of your $$$ I recommend this website.

Part One...
On Friday night we went with Lindy, Justin, and Jeremy to see Swell Season and Iron and Wine @ the Greek Theatre. So being that these bands are chill and have a large hippie/folk following I was thinking that it would be no problem to take our breast feeding four month old. It was cold so she was bundled up with a beanie and a hoodie (which did double duty as warmth and a noise blocker). Mind you this kid has already been to an Angels game and other mild concerts, so I was thinking this would be no problem. To make a long story short... They would not let us in the concert. The reason being was child-hearing loss. We tried every gate and even talked to the manager. They did give us our money back. Let it be known that children under five cannot attend concerts at the Greek.
Part Two...
If you have been to the Greek you know they have stacked parking. This simple fact means Josh and I had to sit outside the gate from 7:30 pm until 11pm. During this time we made the best of the situation and pretended like we were on a date. There are three benches right oustide the entrance on the stage right where you can actually see the screen and hear the music. We saw three movie stars show up fashionably late. We walked around in the parking lot and saw a fancy Maserati. The best hot tip we found out was... Dine and Rides. We did not know this but you can visit dineandride.com and eat and park at local eateries and they will shuttle you to and from the concert bypassing the STACKED PARKING. Wouldn't that have been nice to know.

Even though we wouldn't have planned it that way Josh and I ended up having good time.

Today is our ten-year anniversary. It seems like just yesterday when I was noticing what a hot catch Josh was over at Poly High School (braces and all). I could have never imagined the incredibly awesome husband and father that he is today. In case you didn’t know, Josh works his butt off and provides well for our family. He loves spending quality time with the kids and I. I love getting his opinion on anything and everything. He sees things with a great sense of clarity. He is my friend, he is very intelligent, hot, full of integrity and most of all HE LOVES GOD. Here’s to many more decades. Love you Babe!!! Hope you get a nice laugh from our wedding pics.

Here is my pitch for my favorite local charity for babies…

My favorite place to drop off baby donations is Riverside Life Services also known as the Pregnancy Counseling Center. The “PCC” helps women experiencing crisis pregnancies by meeting their material/emotional needs at no cost. One reason why I love this place is because I used to volunteer there in high school and have seen what they do first hand. I was the person who sorted the incoming donations. I have seen the mother’s faces when they come in on their last diaper. Some moms need a crib or a warm jacket for their baby. These are just a few of the services and supplies the “PCC” has to offer.

So gather up your old baby stuff or even new stuff that your crazy relative thought was so adorable but isn’t and bring it to the “PCC” to donate (Hey- adorable is subjective). For those who care: they do give tax deduction receipts for donations. They accept formula, diapers, clean clothes up to 4T, maternity clothes, baby food, blankets, soaps and lotions, towels and washcloths, baby furniture, and new car seats.

Here is the bad part…
Although they help hundreds of women in a month, they have horrible hours. They are only open Monday-Thursday and only part time at that. So if you’re going to drive your donations out plan on doing it on one of those days. If you must come when they are closed there is another place called Heartline pretty much right next door that will gladly accept your donations with better hours (Mon-Fri 9-5). I just dropped off those free cans of formula you get sent when you have a baby on Friday.

This hours thing is so frustrating to me. I will probably rant about this in another blog post.

To Immunize Or Not To Immunize

Every time I have to decide whether or not to immunize my kids I stress. I am into natural medicine, although I am not a hippie about it. My kids see a regular MD, although in the back of my mind I am keen to the fact that hospitals and pharmaceutical companies ultimately bow down to the almighty dollar. I have read tons of websites about the risk of immunizations. Where parents of children who have been adversely affected by vaccinations speak out. So now a new study has just come out that supposedly kills the idea that childhood shots can cause autism. Should I listen to parents or the man? What have you done with your kids?

Coupon Addiction

After reading my friend and Aunt Heather's blog, I stumbled across a new addiction, frugality. I have always been really excited over a great bargain but she has helped me raise the bar to a new level. This is my coupon binder that I rigged up from stuff I bought at Target. I got the idea from some other blog when researching couponing online. In case you are wondering after only one week of couponing I have saved more than enough money to cover to cost of this organizer. I keep ads in the collapsible folders and club cards in the business card slots. It has a calculator to compare deals and baseball card holders to hold the coupons. The coupons are sorted by sections in the store. This system makes it really easy to walk down the aisles and find deals.

That said I have some coupon rules to keep my addiction inline. Rule #1: Don’t buy any product that I wouldn't normally buy. (Just because there is a sale on TV dinners doesn't mean I am going to start feeding my family that every night .) Rule #2: It has to be pretty darn close to free if I am going to buy something that I don’t need yet. (My house is small; stocking up is not really an option, besides isn’t getting stuff for free pretty much the point?) Rule #3: I won’t shop at stores that are not convenient or that I don’t normally shop at. (Okay, I am a Vons whore, so sue me. I prefer to think of it as loyalty.)

Saturday we took a drive up to Arrowhead and Big Bear. It was a scenic drive with lots of conversing (my favorite part of a road trip). The fire truck

Here are some images last night from our beloved "point and shoot" camera. I should have busted out the D80 but sometimes it just feels too clunky. (So sorry for the poor quality.) Anyways the city’s biggest fire truck and a police k-9 unit came out. We invited some friends not from the wood streets (see last post) so their kids could have the fire/police experience too.
Here is the kids and I. This is as close as any of the kids would get to the truck. Even Joelle wore a Jr. firefighter badge. Haha.
Helene was the only kids that would touch the dog. Brave girl.

The worst "typo" ever

Josh's little bro Jake is at Bible camp this week and what is camp without mail?

So… Josh and I sent Jake a personalized giant cookie from Mrs. Fields that says "Jake, you rock!" on it. He should get it tomorrow. It also included a free personal note. This was supposed to be the perfect way to embarrass him and send him some love at the same time. But since it had to be sent to a P.O. BOX we had to call the 1-800 number and order it over the phone rather than online. Can you see where this is going? After I got off the phone I felt everything went well and was not concerned. I checked my email tonight and we had gotten the confirmation email. It included what the person on the phone typed in the note. Unfortunately it is the EXACT OPPOSITE of what we were trying to say.

It currently reads...
"Jake, We are thinking about you and we hope that you are growing CLOSED to God this week. Love, Josh and Casey"

For Josh's birthday I got him some tickets to the Coldplay show. Well last night was the big night! It was a full house and it was INSANE. Our ears were ringing from all the screaming! Pretty much everybody was up singing and dancing the whole time. Even though it was supposed to be a gift for Josh, I don't know who enjoyed it more. Simply amazing.

Now I hate shopping. Especially when I have to drag my kids along like dead animals. I think everyone with kids can identify with that! That’s why whenever possible I go shopping online. I frequent amazon.com, gap.com, babiesrus.com, itunes.com, and nordstrom.com, just to name a few. Lets just say the UPS man and our family are on a first name basis.
This is Tim. He is my friend and one of the great minds behind PlumberSurplus.com (and that awesome shirt. Haha.). Plumber Surplus is cool because instead of physically going to the Home Depot, I can now get most of my home project materials online. Plumbersurplus.com also has much more selection than Home Depot. My cousin Skye made the trek out from San Diego which is always fun! We spent the day swimming and barbequing with family. Here is a shot of Skye and Sequoia. Check out those patriotic glasses! The BBQ Master flipping some delicious burgers.

We had the best seats in town for the fireworks and fires. We sat in the FUMPS parking lot on the cliff. This spot is the hot ticket. Sorry the picture is out of focus but you get the idea on how great our seats were. The Mt. Rubidoux show ended up starting a half hour late due to the hill catching on fire from the first firework. What a surprise. You gotta love Riverside and the USA!

We are in excess over here. I have a sneaking suspicion this had to do with some certain old friends being in town.:) I love the fact that my friends kids are "T.P.ing" me. It makes me feel better about all the love that I spread as a youth (and youth leader haha).

Father's Day Recap

On Father's Day we ventured out to church and then onto my Grandpa Saunders house for some swim party fun. My dad recently got this awesome new camera that is practically indestructible and takes pics underwater. We tried it out in the pool. Here is a pic Josh and Caleb. Josh is such a great dad.

Blue Bayou

Last night we celebrated Josh's birthday (which is actually today) at the Blue Bayou. Since I don't have connections like Adam we couldn't get into Club 33 :). It was also Joelle's first time at Disneyland. Josh has now entered the last year of his twenties. Live it up babe!

The old monkeys are having new monkeys. The Hensleys, our long time family friends, got together with the Saunders clan the other day so everyone could check out Blythe and my new babies. Lindy snapped this picture of Blythe and my kids. Even though it has been a reality for a while, it's a trip to think that we are all old enough to have families now. How time flies.

Schools Out For Summer

We were so sad to see this school year end. We loved Caleb's teachers and classmates. We let Caleb show off his new baby sister on the last day of school. All of the kids were so excited to finally meet her. Here is a pic of Caleb and Mrs. Martin. Mrs. Martin said when she asked Caleb if he likes his new sister he replied, "Yeah, but she poops alot." That she does.

Since Caleb has some spare time on his hands now we have been putting him to work. He loves helping out with the baby.

We are so glad to be home. Not only are hospitals dirty but they have the worst decorations. Like this random piece of "artwork" that was in my room. A hunky sweaty fire fighter. Hilarious. Who picks out this stuff?

The Story

Here is Caleb the day before the big event. Practicing his big brother skills.
The contractions woke me up at 6 AM but we waited to go to the hospital until 9 AM. By that time I was already 8 CM dilated. Here was my favorite contraction position. Poor Josh. I birthed this chick al-natural.
Fresh out of the oven at 12:10PM. 7 lbs. 10oz.
Caleb was so excited to see her. He loves her a lot.
This was the hottest picture I could find of myself and the baby. Glad it's over. I got my goods. :)

Joelle Shay arrived at 12:10pm on Thursday, May 29th after only a few hours of labor. She was 7 lbs 10oz and 20 inches. We are home now and pretty beat. I will post another time to tell the story. If anyone wants to see her, we are opening up our house Saturday (tomorrow) from 10am-2pm. No sickies! After that Josh, Caleb and I want to keep her all to ourselves for a week while Josh has off. Thanks for your support and labor vibes that were sent. We are so excited she is here.
BTW... Typical of me, I have no idea where my phone is so call Josh if you want to get a hold of us.

The bitter end

This kid is hanging on until the bitter end. I am becoming very uncomfortable not to mention irritable (just ask Josh). I have been trying everything to get this kid out. I even climbed Mt. Rubidoux today in a last ditch effort. No luck. Keep your fingers crossed. I will try to keep the blog world updated.

Thanks to the mom... who sent their kid to preschool sick on Tuesday. Okay people! This is one of my pet peeves. Why is it that a lot of moms and dads don't understand that they are parents first and other things second. If your kid is sick please keep your kid at home. Instead someone decided to send their kid to preschool (which by the way is fake school) and infect the family who is due to have a baby any day. If I have to deliver a baby with a temp, someones head is going to roll (thats the pregnancy hormones talking). Caleb has had a temp for two days now. Who else hates this?

Those of you who know Josh, you know that he is a clean fanatic. That's why my dad and I were cracking up seeing Josh go under the house to run the electrical for our new dishwasher. Thanks to a lot of help from my dad and Josh's bravery under the house we have a cute little dishwasher and are no longer hand washing dishes.

"City" stopped by

The city has been by so much lately that Caleb thinks anyone who is wearing an orange reflective coat is named "City." They stopped by today to tell us they will be installing two new tress to replace the old one. In the city's master plan they have our street slated to have Incense Cedars. Hmmmm... These trees look like they belong in the forest but who am I to question the city's master plan. The most hilarious part is that this city guy must be related to Josh because when I asked him what a Incense Cedar looked like he said, "google it." Those are some of Josh's favorite words around here.
As for my pregnancy, I am off bed rest and allowed to have my baby anytime. Let's hope it is sooner than later. I am over this pregnant stuff.

Can't complain

Life on "bed rest" has been good. My 29th birthday flew by yesterday with lots of calls and showering by friends and family.
Jeremy sent me this cool desktop background that he made for my birthday. Josh and I were cracking up. It is awesome.
Lindy and Justin took us out to dinner (Don't tell Kaiser... I am thinking that dinner is not that strenuous though.)
Josh busted out with these awesome stargazer flowers and a TREADMILL (which I have been begging for for years)! Josh is the bomb husband. Since I am on bed rest, Josh and Caleb have gotten more use out of it then me. :)

I got my feet up

The baby wants out early. Although the feeling is mutual, I am on bed rest for a week and a half and then the doctor said my baby will be cool to come out. I am doing all kinds of things with my new lying down hobby. I finished all my thank you cards, made Josh a shopping list, signed up for netflix, organized finances, read lots of blogs, and been online shopping. Any other ideas????

Baby Shower

I had a small family Baby Shower at my moms house Saturday and here were some of the highlights. The baby cradle is my favorite gift so far. It is the actual cradle used for me, my sister, Kenny Bear :), and Caleb when we were babies. My sister refinished it with this awesome antique finish. It looks so cool. Featured in the pics are Caleb, my Grand mamas, and me. After the shower, I tried to organize all my new lute. I laid all the clothes out by size but sitting on the floor can be so tiring for a chick who is 35 weeks pregnant. So I took a break and laid down. It took two days to pick up this mess. The joys of pregnancy.

The sky is falling

Most days when the news is "storm tracking" I am rolling my eyes. But then the wind knocks over the 70-year-old oak tree in my front yard, suddenly I am paying a little more attention. While Josh and I were away at Disneyland on Sunday, a tornado must have come down my street because the wind broke several trees. However, mine is the only tree that completely fell over. The tree fell inches away from my across the street neighbors front door. Nothing was hurt except for our property value. It broke the main line on both the city and my side of the property and took out the sidewalk. This is a huge bummer to Josh and I. We loved this tree.

I have been meaning to post these pics of when we went up to Jeremy's parents cabin in Lake Arrowhead. This was in January. We had a blast and Caleb loved the snow.
